The anteromedial portal in ankle arthroscopy is the standard primary viewing portal, created medial to the tibialis anterior tendon at the level of the joint line. If the portal is placed excessively medial, there is a significant risk of injuring the saphenous nerve and the great saphenous vein, which lie in the superficial subcutaneous tissues in this region.
